Seeds and seeds

TLOS

1. Observes the different stages in the germination of seed

2. To know the parts of a seed

3. To understand the conditions necessary for a seed to sprout

4. To know the dispersal of seeds and agents involved in seed dispersal

PARTS OF A SEED

Seed germination

Conditions required for the growth of a seed

Moisture
Warmth
Nutrient-rich soil
Sunlight
Good quality seed

Once these conditions are satisfied, the seed begins to grow.
What is seed dispersal?
Because plants cannot walk around and take their seeds to other places, they have developed other methods to disperse (move) their seeds. The most common methods are wind, water, animals, explosion, and fire. Dandelion seeds float away in the wind.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT MODES OF DISPERSAL WITH EXAMPLES?

Wind, - Dandelion flower, cotton plant

Water- coconut, lotus

Animals, birds, and humans- mango, cherry, and  all the fruits and vegetables

 Explosion:- pea

Q. Why snakes are called farmers friends?
Ans. Snakes are called a farmer's friend as they kill and feed on animals like rats, protecting the crops from being destroyed.

Q. Why does the same kind of plant grow under the same tree?
Ans. Many trees produce seeds that fall to the ground and germinate under the tree. This is especially common for trees that produce fruit, such as apple trees, pear trees, and cherry trees.
